The Tatarstan Open Cricket Tournament for amateur teams kicks off in Kazan on April 25. The competition will be held at the field located at 47a Patrisa Lumumby Street, Bldg. 6 (near the FIZRA arena).
The tournament was organized by the Cricket Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan State Medical University, and the Association of Foreign Students and Postgraduates of Kazan.
A format that will test your character
The tournament will feature 15 amateur teams divided into three groups of five. The first stage will be played using a cup system: each team plays every other team in its group once (four matches per team). The two strongest teams from each group will advance to the final TOP6 group.
In the second stage, the six best teams will face each other again in a round-robin format (each team against each other). This is where the final standings will be determined: the winner will receive the Cup, the runners-up will receive medals and diplomas, and the best players (MVP, best batsman, bowler, wicket-keeper, and fielder) will be awarded individual prizes from the partners.
"We deliberately chose a two-stage system with a large number of matches. Sport isn't just a passion, it's also a genuine will to win. I'm confident the tournament will boost the development of cricket in Tatarstan," said Eduard Zagretdinov, President of the Tatarstan Cricket Federation.

Calendar and conditions of participation
The tournament will be held over the weekend from April 25 to May 30, 2026 (tentatively). The matchday begins at 9:00 AM. All matches will be played in the classic cricket format, with 11 players per team. A more detailed schedule will be published on the official website cricketrussia.ru and on the tournament organizers' websites.
Who is organizing it?
The tournament was initiated by Kazan State Medical University, and the Cricket Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan is the organizer and maintainer of the regulations. Kazan State Medical University provides medical support and volunteer assistance. The Association of International Students and Postgraduates is assisting with the recruitment of international amateur teams and creating an atmosphere of friendly competition.
"Cricket brings together students from dozens of countries. For the Association of International Students and Postgraduates, this tournament is another step toward strengthening interethnic sports dialogue in Kazan," noted a representative of the Association.
